On screen
August 1945. Connie, daughter of Don Vito Corleone, marries Carlo Rizzi, and the whole family celebrates in the garden. Meanwhile, in his dark study, the Don receives those who come to ask a favour, because no Sicilian can refuse a request on his daughter’s wedding day. Michael arrives in uniform with Kay and explains who his family are: “That’s my family, Kay. It’s not me.”
The place today
A private home on Longfellow Avenue in Todt Hill. The tall stone wall and gate seen in the film were a styrofoam set, removed long ago; the house itself looks much as it did on screen. A family lives here: photograph quietly from the street and don’t go in.
Did you know? According to Wikipedia, almost 750 local residents took part in the wedding scene as extras.
